Anti-inflammatory Smoothie Recipe

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Servings: 4 10 oz. servings

Ingredients

  • 2 C fresh blueberries (or any berries in season)
  • 2 C fresh blackberries (or any berries in season)
  • 1 C frozen cherries (feel free to substitute a different fruit)
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 C black cherry juice (or your favorite fruit juice)
  • optional: 1 ml CBD oil (25mg CBD–adjust dosage as desired)

Here’s a quick, easy, delicious smoothie you can make that’s packed full of anti-inflammatory compounds. It’s a great way to start your day in the morning, makes a terrific dessert after supper, or works well as an energizing snack.

Fresh blackberries, blueberries, a banana, frozen cherries, and black cherry juice make up this inflammation-fighting powerhouse.

Wild Maine blueberries are smaller than what you typically find in stores but what they lack in size they more than make up for in flavor!
organic blackberries
Nothing says summer like fresh blackberries in August. Whenever possible, use fresh fruits in season for maximum flavor and anti-inflammatory power.

Berries are among nature’s most powerful foods when it comes to reducing chronic inflammation, a major factor in many diseases. This smoothie is all about the berries–if possible use fresh berries in season, but frozen will work too. It’s early August here in Maine, which means fresh blueberries and blackberries galore. I like to add a banana for extra flavor and nutrition. A cup of frozen fruit will help chill the smoothie down and thicken the texture a bit.

Directions

Step 1: Prechill

Put the serving glasses in the freezer at least 30 minutes before you make the smoothie.

Step 2: Combine and Blend

Once you have all your ingredients at hand, just combine right in the blender and blend everything smooth. It should just take 10 seconds or so.

Step 3: Add CBD Oil (optional)

If you really want to send inflammation packing, add some CBD oil to the smoothie (you can do this to your individual serving or to the entire batch). CBD, or cannabidiol, has powerful anti-inflammatory properties. 1 dropper of our organic full-spectrum CBD oil contains 25mg CBD, which would come to just over 6mg per serving if added to the blender. Adjust the dosage as desired. If you’ve never taken CBD before talk with your doctor or caregiver first. This step is strictly optional–the fruit by itself will do a number on inflammation.

To supercharge the anti-inflammatory properties of your smoothie, add a little CBD oil (dosage is personal and variable–start low at 5-6mg per serving for starters).

Step 4: Serve

Pour the smoothie into your prechilled glasses. These are best enjoyed immediately but can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.

Calories: 92 per 10 oz. serving.

Warning: these are highly addictive–you may become a smoothie fiend if you’re not careful.
